Where special extra protection is needed the sleeve layers can be two or even three on top of each other. Still the eye is soft but with enough stiffness to keep it suitable open for bollards and hooks.
The eye protection is also useful as a sliding sleeve to position where high abrasion is expected like in fairlead.
